Beth’s Books - January

Each month, Beth Withers, one of our library volunteers, shares the newest books that have been added to our church library this past month. For more information on our library click here.

  • PICTURE BOOK

    • Wombat Said Come In by Carmen Agra Deedy
With a wildfire raging above his burrow, Wombat welcomes five uniquely Australian animals to his cozy home.  The author is very close to First Baptist.  Come and see her dedication that she wrote in the book.

  • YOUTH FICTION

    • Cress Watercress by Gregory Maguire
With wit and wisdom, the author, who wrote the best-selling Wicked, tells a tale of growing up in the tradition of The Wind in the Willows and Stuart Little.

  • ADULT FICTION

    • Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Set in the early 1960’s, this is the story of chemist Elizabeth Zott who is working with an all-make team at the Hastings Research Institute.  An often laugh-out-loud look at the value of so-called women’s work.  Donated by Mary Sue Reding in memory of Mrs. Carrie Allen.

  • ADULT NON-FICTION

    • The library gets lots of donations and recently two people have donated many books.  Long-time member, Opal Godwin has donated lots of cookbooks.  Bill Withers, a non-church member has donated many books on religion.
