Youth Ministry //

We’re glad you’re interested in learning more about the youth and student ministry at First Baptist Church Decatur! The youth group at FBCD is comprised of middle and high school students from all across Decatur who want to make friends, learn about what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world, and more importantly, have fun together.

Our students attend schools in the Decatur area including such as Decatur High School and Grady High School, and we’re honestly the most laid-back and welcoming bunch!

Through meaningful conversations, service projects, group outings (Atlanta baseball games, bowling parties, city-wide scavenger hunts, virtual game nights, etc.), and mission trips, our youth learn more about embracing their identity in Christ and how their passions can help change the world.

Youth Sunday School Class

On Sunday mornings, our youth gather on the third floor of the Sanctuary building in their dedicated space to study the Bible together. We don’t believe in surface-level Christianity either, so we courageously stare the hard questions in the face and discuss what it means to live out the Gospel in our schools, city, nation, and world.

Paused for the Summer

When the school year resumes, join us in the Activities Building on select Sunday nights from 6:00-8:00 pm for Bible Study, dinner, games, an open gym, and study time! Youth are welcome to bring friends along, too. Our Youth Night dates are always listed under “Events” below, and you can reach out to Zach Mason with any questions. And in the meantime, check out our summer Youth events!

Pool Party

Join us for a pool party on July 6 from 2:00-6:00 pm! This event will be at the neighborhood pool of one of our church members. Reach out to Zach Mason (zmason@fbcdecatur.com) for full details.

Passport Choices Camp

This summer, the youth group will be attending Passport Choices Camp at Converse University in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Passport Choices is what it sounds like. It will be a one week overnight camp from Sunday, July 14th-Friday July 19th. The entire camp is catered to fostering community within our existing youth group while also allowing the kids to choose how they want their week to go. Choices include sports, art, worship, service/missions, and more. Below are all of the links that would give you all the details you need to make a decision.

The cost of the entire camp is $498. This includes housing and food for the week. I included the link to scholarships that are available. Please keep me updated on this. We do not want financial concerns to come between your child and camp, so we will figure out a way to get them there if they are interested. Please talk to your kid(s) and let me know soon so I can begin registration. I will follow-up soon with details on how to make the payments.
