Wrestling with God

“Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket; and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.”
– Gen. 32:22-32

I love this story in Genesis 32 and I’m thankful David spoke from it on Sunday. It’s impossible to not draw something new from it every time I read it.

Sometimes life is a struggle. There are situations and circumstances we encounter that leave us bloodied, bruised, and yes, maybe even walking with a limp.

But perhaps if we’re as bold (or stubborn) as Jacob, we’ll learn to see the blessings in our trials and be changed by them.

Jacob wrestled with an unidentified man and walked away with a new name.

There’s no telling what changes our struggles might bring us if we just ask…
