Our Macedonian Call

We have returned. The eleven pilgrims you so graciously supported and prayed for now have stories to tell. What we saw and how we felt, the people we met and the ministries we experienced allowed us brief glimpses into the many meaningful ministries Jeff and Alicia Lee are facilitating. We are impressed, and very thankful! Through them and their many partners, Macedonian, Albanian and Roma, God is doing many good things.

Along with their hospitality, Jeff and Alicia introduced our group to a number of remarkable people, both partners in ministry as well as those these Macedonian ministries are assisting.

From preparing boxes at the Macedonian and CBF food bank, to a rehabilitation center where the recovering residents make, repair, sell and install beautiful furniture. We spent considerable time at to two different lovely Care and Living Centers for Adults with Disabilities where we shared activities, smiles, hugs, laughter and good food. We shared fellowship and vital support for new friends at the LGBTQ safe house and community center in Skopje. We heard their stories, felt their sadness, fear and gratitude, enjoyed good music, and were touched by their welcoming smiles, heroic courage, ongoing resiliency.

We saw new chicken coops and heard the exciting plans for expanding a growing “chicken ministry” that will provide sustainable futures for numerous people with better income and improved diets.

We were introduced to the rich and complicated history of Macedonia, along with the current hardships and hope for a better future. We heard hard, personal stories of people living in the struggle of a new country coping with ancient tensions. We saw the remains in Skopje of the home where Mother Theresa grew up; and we spent time in the chapel dedicated to her life and ministry.

We worshipped, prayed, sang and shared in learning as much as we could about this land, these good people and the extraordinary eleven year ministry Jeff and Alicia Lee continue to nurture.

Thank you all for your support, your prayers and your willingness to sponsor such fine work. We are glad to be back. We are thrilled to have gone. And we are grateful to have been a small part of God’s love unfolding in the lovely, historic land of Macedonia.

Love,

David
