Ordinary Things with Enormous Value

Happy Friday Everyone:

This Sunday, our sermon topic in both services is: “Watch Out for Snakes!”

Interested? The scriptures we will cite do indeed emerge out of some very unusual circumstances. Yet those early biblical times of confusion among the people remain surprisingly relevant. I hope we can make these current-day connections in a way that allows for broad challenge, as well as hopeful comfort.

We have much to hope for, to believe in and to work on behalf of. Yet we face multiple challenges on a variety of fronts. With multitude of distractions, widening cynicism, and increasingly negative and loud voices shouting against virtually everything, let us remain committed to what we know is good, right and necessary.

I like what the Christian anthropologist, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, once said:

Do not forget the value and interest of life is not so much to do conspicuous things ... as to do ordinary things with the perception of their enormous value.

Lord, today help us to feel your presence in each moment and every step. Allow to sense the enormous value in all that we do, no matter how mundane. And in doing so, let us sense more deeply our connections to you and to what matters most. Amen.

I look forward to sharing in worship with as many of you as possible this Sunday!

Love,

David
