A prayer honoring what's sacred
In crusty bread symbolically reminiscent of sweet mana from heaven; paradoxically soft and heavy in the palm of my hand, gracious God, you are there. In a chalice brimming with crimson flood, merciful Lord, your saving love soaks through every fiber of bread braking down flour and yeast ‘til all is soaked through; blood red and indelibly stained with grace.
Holy Savior,
In sacred moments of grace coming near; holy intersections of human and divine, help my soul find the words that my mouth longs to speak; bound to silence in awe of you. Cleanse my lips with coal and ash. Open my eyes to the injustice around me. Fill me with your spirit, your words for the world.
Make me a willing prophet with a holy message of love for the unlovable, grace for the unthinkable, touch for the untouchable. Grant me these holy words and the courage to speak them in such a way that ordinary becomes sacred through your word on my lips. Amen.
