A Prayer for Childlike Wonder This Summer

Creator of all seasons,
We come to you this summer
And lay all manner
Of disappointments and dashed dreams at your feet.
As we cancel plans for pools, parties, and parades
We pray for new ways to experience and explore
Your holy wonder with our children.
In the down of a summer morning
Remind us, O Lord
You are the melody of baby birds
The shade of a tree
And the hope of a sunrise.
In the dusk of a summer evening
Remind us, O Lord
You are the glow of starlit nights
The warmth of a campfire
And the magic of fireflies.
Creator of all seasons
We come to you this summer.
