FBCD COVID-19 September Update
Our Latest Update from the FBCD Coronavirus Task Force
The Delta Variant became the dominant strain in the US within 6 weeks and is 2x more infectious.
In June, DeKalb County had 2 new cases per day for every 100,000 people. Now, DeKalb is classified as ‘Extremely High Risk’ with 42 new cases per 100,000.
With the Delta variant, those who are not fully vaccinated (children and adults) have the highest risk of infection, hospitalization, and death.
While full vaccination effectively protects against hospitalizations and death, even vaccinated people can catch and spread the Delta variant and get sick.
Vaccinations help others by working towards herd immunity and by protecting those who have lower immunity despite vaccination.
What can FBCD do to help protect each other and continue to worship together in person?
Based on CDC guidance for high-risk areas like DeKalb, FBCD’s Cornovirus Task Force HIGHLY recommends:
Masks are ALWAYS to be worn indoors (ages 3 and up), regardless of vaccination status
Maintain Social Distancing
No food indoors
Contact Tracing for small groups
Inform DPH of any new cases
Get Vaccinated – help yourself and others who cannot get the COVID vaccine
Thanks for your patience, your understanding, and your cooperation during these ongoing strange and challenging days!
Sincerely,
The FBCD Coronavirus Task Force
