• PICTURE BOOK

  • Uncle Andy’s Cats by James Warhola The author/illustrator’s childhood memories of his famous artist uncle, Andy Warhol, inspired this humorous story of Andy’s house, overrun with cats. Readers will pore over the illustrations trying to spot 25 Sams, 1 blue pussycat and some very clever mice. Donated by Carolyn Jones who recently gave the library 7 boxes of children’s books!

• YOUTH FICTION

  • The Last Mapmaker by Christina Soontornvat
    Sai, Assistant to celebrated mapmaker, Paiyoon Wongyai, escapes her troubled family life by joining Paiyoon on an expedition to chart the southern seas. Soon Sai learns that the ship might be heading to the fabled Sunderlands - a land of dragons, dangers and riches beyond imagination - and she has to decide what she is willing to risk to chase after her dreams. Luminous!

  • The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry
    In war-torn London of 1939, fourteen-year-old Hazel and her five-year-old sister, Flora are evacuated to a rural village in the English countryside to escape the horrors of the Second World War. They have an idyllic time until Flora suddenly vanishes.   • Hitler and His Women by Phil Carradice A history of the women in Hitler’s life and a fascinating account of his relationships with them. The book includes the main “loves” of his life - Geli Raubal and Eva Braun - and also looks at the “peripheral”women - his sisters, his secretaries and the women of Germany as a whole. Donated by Linda and Freddy Bailey.
