MLK Jr. Day of Service

Help Decatur's oldest residents stay in their homes by signing up for Decatur's 18th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Project!

This annual event brings together more than 1,000 volunteers each year who do house repairs, maintenance, weatherization, yard work, etc., to help Decatur's longtime homeowners live safely, comfortably, and affordably in their own homes.

For the past number of years, FBCD has organized a team of volunteers working on one home making repairs, painting and scraping, building ramps, cleaning gutters, etc.. Our group mainly works on Saturday and some return on the Sunday afternoon and Monday of the MLK weekend.

Shifts include:

  • Saturday, January 18

    • 9:00am - 1:00pm

    • 1:00 - 5:00pm

  • Sunday, January 19

    • 1:00 - 5:00pm

  • Monday, January 20

    • 9:00am - 1:00pm

    • 1:00 - 5:00pm

If you're interested in participating this January, contact Mai Cavalli with your email/phone number, indicate any skills you have, and what days you'd be available (Sat., 1/18; Sun., 1/19; or Mon., 1/20).

You can reach her at: maicavalli@comcast.net or 404-931-2394
