Prayer for Thanksgiving

We know that you are a God who gives good gifts to your children, Holy God.

We know that every good and perfect gift comes from you.

We know that in time all pain, suffering, and strife will pass away and subside into the glorious rest you promise us.

So we are thankful for the good and the perfect things, big and small. We thank you for the not-so-perfect things that are our teachers and remind us to look toward your guidance.

We thank you for the relationships that have sustained us through a difficult year.

We thank you for the technology that made those relationships possible.

We thank you for all the people who have worked tirelessly to make our lives a little easier: medical personnel, delivery drivers, shelf stockers, cashiers, and all essential workers. We may not know them each by name, but our lives have been blessed by their labors.

We thank you for your provision, especially when that provision has a face and a name and a family.
And we pray that we might be provision, messengers of your love and your goodness to others.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
