A Prayer of Wonder
Holy wonder,
A playfully mysterious creator bends an ear to the earth as prayers ascend from weary travelers. Pilgrims on the journey of life have come, parched, to drink of your goodness and find sustenance in your mercy.
“We are tired,” we cry, as we bend our faces to the ground in both exhaustion and reverence. You hear our tired tears as they fall upon the earth, and you quench our dried-up souls with the cool water of reassurance, presence and peace.
You are a welcome gift to us, O God. A holy companion who travels with us, thirsts with us, and tires with us. Teach us to rest, grant us a shielding shelter from the storms of life in the shadow of your wings. You are with us. Remind us when we forget that you are always with us.
