A Prayer Against Apathy

A prayer against apathy

So much was put on hold when the virus came. Weddings, vacations, financial plans, friendships, new beginnings, all pushed away to an eventuality.
Now six months later we find that life has gone on; death has gone on. Our bodies, our minds, our spirits did not crystalize in strength, but have withered as day by day our store of hope and commitment has drained.
I feel empty today, God.
I need you to fill me up with purpose. Show me what this was all for. Give me a reason to get up, to get dressed, to care about my responsibilities and my goals. Provide energy to my body as you provided daily bread to the Israelites. Help me to see this time as more than a period of waiting, but as an opportunity to do a new thing and to follow you into uncharted territories.
Amen.
