Day 12
December 10, 2020

A Prayer for Peace

Pastor Kelsey Lewis Vincent

God who calms the storm,

Your first act in your incarnation was to bring peace to a crowded stable, and peace to a weary world.

Bring peace to our divided nation.
Bring peace to our divided families.
Bring peace within the fragile ecosystems of our bodies.
Bring peace within our worried and anxious spirits.

When even the comfort of holiday traditions and gathering of families has fallen apart, bring peace by reminding us of your goodness.

Show us that peace isn’t just a night of rest or a silenced conflict, but a resolve to lean into your goodness and work for your kingdom, even in the midst of pain, unrest, and fear.

So strengthen our resolve with your peace, oh God, that we may not abandon doing good, that we may not give up on the vision of love in the community that you have set before us.

And may we be renewed in our dedication to You and to your people.

In your son Jesus’ good name,
Amen

About a Journey Through Advent

This year is unprecedented in its challenges to our global, national, and local communities, let alone the challenges to our own church community and personal spiritual growth. And yet, the rhythm of the church calendar continues to hold us in a life-giving refrain: hope is alive!

This series of devotional readings, scripture readings, and prayers is designed to give you an opportunity to pause and reflect on the hope, peace, joy, and love that the Advent season brings.

We challenge you to set aside time each day to read, reflect, and pray through these offerings presented by our pastoral staff.

May you find encouragement in the remarkable hope this season provides us!
