Beth’s Books - February

Each month, Beth Withers, one of our library volunteers, shares the newest books that have been added to our church library this past month. For more information on our library click here.

  • PICTURE BOOK

    • Sometimes It’s Nice to Be Alone by Amy Hest
The title says it all, but what if a friend comes along?   A delightful reminder that nothing is as powerful as a child’s imagination. The brightly colored illustration are mischievous and detailed, perfectly extending the text.

  • YOUTH FICTION

    • The Islanders by Mary Alice Monroe
A comfortable read about the healing power of friendship and nature.  This is one of the last books donated by Katherine Blanton.

  • ADULT FICTION

    • Tom Lake by Ann Patchett
This is a moving novel about family, love and growing up.  Ann Patchett once again proves herself to be one of America’s finest writers.  There are 161 holds on this book at the DeKalb Library System, so come and get it at your church library!

  • ADULT NON-FICTION

    • We have had a number of excellent cookbooks donated to our church library. This is a subject that is rarely checked out and we have some that will definitely pique your interest and taste buds!  Also, as this is a new year, why don’t you try a new recipe?  Two of the most recent cookbooks are:  Giada’s Family Dinner by Giada de Laurentiis, donated by Joyce Cotton and In the Kitchen with David by David Venable, also donated by Joyce Cotton.
